Funding of £300,000 has been confirmed to continue the Community Pharmacist Practitioner Champions scheme in Scotland for 2018-19.

NHS Circular PCA (P)(2018) 9 sets out how the funding will be allocated across the NHS Boards, and lists the activities the pharmacy champions are expected to promote. For 2018-19, these are:

  • supporting community pharmacists and their teams to complete the Safety Climate Survey and develop an action plan based on the results by September 30 2018;
  • supporting community pharmacists and their teams to participate in Non-Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drugs (NSAID) Interventions, using the Toolkit distributed to each community pharmacy during the period June 1 – September 30 2018;
  • supporting all community pharmacists and community pharmacy technicians to familiarise themselves with the refreshed Primary Care Record PCR (Version 13.1), released on July 4 2018.

Community Pharmacy Scotland has also published a summary of the changes brought about by the v13.1 refresh of the PCR.
